People have been coming up with innovative ways to protect their bar’s shaft as well as their rack from being grinded down during grueling training sessions. Some would slide over a sock while others would use a few rolls of electrical tape in an attempt to save the bar’s knurling.

The Barbell Shield not only protects the knurling of your shaft but also reduces the noise while training.
The Shaft Guards from Spud Inc can come in real handy if you have an older rack with plain steel J-Hooks and you cannot get a replacement or if the nylon protectors have worn off and you don’t feel like shelling out a couple of hundred dollars on a new set.
