SAM’S REVIEW
When it comes to gym bench attachments, in my opinion, the leg extension hamstring curl attachments would be the highest priority. It is a lot easier to hit upper body with multiple exercises with a set of adjustable dumbbells alone. Training legs with minimal equipment is not impossible, but it is certainly not as easy.
Leg extensions and hamstring curls are two exercises that I would thoroughly recommend to nearly any weight trainer. If you are bodybuilding they help build muscle. Training for athletic performance? They are great for building knee stability. They are mandatory for people just looking to enhance their general health.
NOT ALL LEG ATTACHMENTS ARE EQUAL
A lot of gym benches offer leg extension attachments. But the quality of the movement is questionable. The Ironmaster Leg Attachment PRO design has been around for decades now. Is it any good? Of course I will tell you it is good because I am selling it. But a quick Google search or browse through a Garage Gym community page will tell you that it is well received.
You can see for yourself that there are some pretty hardcore lifters that use these attachments in their gyms. Inferior leg attachments would either fail under such use. Or are simply not designed to correctly target the quads or hamstrings.
The range of motion can be restricted. Sometimes the rollers end up halfway up your leg during the movement. On the cheap ones the pads are cheap and wear quickly. In this digital era if you can not find some GENUINE endorsement online there is probably a valid reason.
BANG FOR BUCK
In this economic environment the price tag can be off-putting. Thanks to inflation all prices have risen. But the Ironmaster Leg Attachment is the closest you will get to a quality leg extension leg curl machine. As an owner of both, the actual difference is minimal.
The stand alone version is just easier to use – just jump on and start training. Versus docking the attachment in the bench. In a home or studio environment where you have limited space or budget you will always have to compromise on something. In this case docking a quality attachment is no big deal.
With the price also comes quality build and materials. The addition of roller covers will dramatically extend the life of the rollers. You can see from the unboxing videos the other quality components used in the build. This attachment is built to last.
This is great news. If you want to train and build strength for the years to come. After numerous programs from my physio, leg extensions and leg curls should be an essential part of your training. Even if you just spread the cost over 5 years it is a great deal. But I can assure you will have this attachment for a lot longer than that.

You’ll likely know leg extensions are hard to beat and help where squats etc won’t. Couple that with lying leg curls which train your whole hamies unlike seated and this has you covered. Both my son and my squat and deadlift numbers have picked up since adding this into the home gym mix. I’ll add something else- out of 6 ironmaster products this was the only one that had one minor piece missing a little threading; still totally usable but Sam’s and Ironmaster sorted it with a part arriving within the week from the US; so I can safely say after sales of Sam’s crew ( thanks guys) and Ironmaster was 10/10. Shipping to Vic was rapid AF too :).Another bonus this attachment can accept both olympic and standard plates so I finally have a use for all the old Kmart plates lying around gathering dust. Good angles for an at home leg extension, it’s default layout is beyond 90 and with a little tinkering you can squeeze more room out of it. Its been the finishing touch to my home gym- no excuses left for leg days!
