The Ironmaster IM2000 has always been a great option for a home gym when you are tight on space. However some people feel a bit reluctant because they read so much negative press on smith machines from the armchair experts, they have second thoughts. They feel that the only way you can train is with free weights. Even though free bar holders have always been available, there was not a factory spotting option available – until now. So now you can have the best of both worlds. You can train with a barbell, or isolate the muscle with one of the smoothest smith movements around.
These spotter arms – like all Ironmaster products – are beautifully designed. The IM2000 has a protective paint finish on the uprights – this is one of the secrets of how the lifting bar slides so smoothly. So you will be glad to know that the spotters have nylon inserts to protect this finish.
But it is no use if they protect your flash gym equipment, but fold under a heavy load and destroy you! These Ironmaster spotters are based on the same design of the Ironmaster IM1500 spotters. If the thick steel plate doesn’t make you feel safe, just pick one up and feel the weight – these are some solid arms. They are rated for 500lbs – which is a very conservative estimate and based more on protecting your IM2000 uprights.
The arms are 14″ in length – which allows plenty of room to squat or bench press safely without a training partner.
