From all the squat racks for sale on the Australian market, I can genuinely say that the Ironmaster IM1500 is the perfect choice for the free weight trainer who is tight on space. Why? The Ironmaster IM1500 squat rack was the result of a collaboration with Ironmaster and Sam’s Fitness in response to the growing popularity of Crossfit and Strength training. We wanted to offer our customers squat racks that were the same quality and durability as a commercial power cage, but with a much more compact footprint.
- HEAVY DUTY – Super heavy duty powder coated structural steel frame. The uprights are made from 60mm x 60mm steel tube with a 3mm wall thickness. The load capacity is 1000lbs. Rubber feet for stability. Holes are available if you would like to bolt it down. Suitable for commercial environments.
- FUNCTIONAL – Adjustable power band pegs that give you advanced training capabilities. Built in chin up bar for both a narrow and wide grip pull ups. Can also be used in conjunction with suspension trainers or hanging ab straps.
- COMPACT – There are 8 weight storage bars at the back which can suit either standard or Olympic plates, plus barbell storage for two Olympic barbells.
- SAFE – Comes with heavy duty adjustable gravity lock spotter bars. Combined with the numbered uprights they can be quickly and easily changed. The double j-hooks also provide an extra degree of safety, the bottom level is for when you just can’t get those last couple of inches on your last rep.
Squat Racks
The base of the IM1500 squat rack may only be 130cm x 130cm, but this half cage certainly packs some punch for such a small footprint. With uprights made from 3mm structural steel, the Ironmaster IM1500 boasts a weight load capacity of 1000lbs or 454kg. The footplates with rubber grips further add to stability. For those who want even more stability you have the option of bolting the rack to the floor.
Now when comparing squat racks, it is very important that you take into consideration the design and inclusions. There may be squat racks for sale that have smaller footprints, but they aren’t anywhere near as strong, and also don’t have the other handy features that the IM1500 offers. If you are a free weight enthusiast, you will naturally have barbells and weight plates. The IM1500 comes with two barbell holders and eight Olympic or standard weight plate holders. The bottom four are spaced specifically to cater for bumper plates.
The J-hooks represent another handy feature, with two positions, just in case you can’t quite complete the last rep. The spotter bars are super heavy-duty, and with 2-inch hole spacing on the uprights, you will be able to lift heavy and safely.
Additional Information
The uprights are tied together with a handy chin up. It can also be used for suspension training, making this an even more versatile piece of gym equipment.
The Ironmaster Half Rack also comes standard with 4 band pegs for resistance band training.
