Yes the ATX® Folding Half Rack saves a lot of space, but I think the most important aspect is that it gives the gym owner greater flexibility. Once folded away, you have much more space for classes or functional training. In a home gym, you can now park your car in your garage.
The ATX® Folding Half Rack perfectly represents the excellence of German craftsmanship. The uprights are manufactured out of 70 mm x 70 mm tube steel with a 3mm wall thickness. To add to the rigidity, it is braced with a cocktail of 5/6mm Brackets and a mix of high-tensile strength M12/M20 Hardware.
This combination of materials helped the ATX® Fold-Away Rack to achieve the highest commercial certification standard – EN 20957 I.II.IV – S.
This rack is both a grower and a shower. When it is tucked away, it measures a measly 13cm from the wall. But when you’re ready to get hot and sweaty, you can unleash the beast.
Once erect, your rig is a massive 61cm from the wall. This will allow you to go both hard and deep, in your favourite positions, with full range of motion. It would be only natural to think that you would not be fully satisfied by something “fold away”. Nothing could be further than the truth.
You can go just as hard as you would on any full-sized equipment, and it will have you walking funny for days!
The ATX® Folding Half Rack can be quickly stowed by taking out the single chin-up bar, which is held by two solid steel 20mm thick pins. There are no complicated mechanisms, just drop in pins.
To put the icing on the cake, the guide rails of this folding half-rack comes with two extremely resilient polyamide rollers, which protect your floor and make it effortless to fold away.
The rollers will also bear some of the weight load when you are training. This means that the mounting bolts will not be stressed by all the weight.
The racks overall load rating is a modest 500kg (safe working load) which should not be confused with a breaking point of the machine.
The included J-Hooks are manufactured out of solid 10mm thick sheet steel and come with UMHW Nylon Protectors – they can comfortably withstand loads of up to 450kg.
The Straight Chin Up Bar is manufactured out of 32 mm x 3 mm steel tube and is rated for 200kg.
The new, redesigned ATX® Range features a variety of compatible attachments. Such as Jammer Arms, Monolift, Dip Handles, Landmine, T-Bar Row, Spotter Arm and Wrist Roller attachments.
With endless ingenuity of the German Engineers, the accessory list is constantly growing.
The mounting rail can be used to you give greater flexibility for fixing the rack to your wall. If the optimal position for your rack is where there is a gap in the brick work, the mounting rail can solve this issue for you.
The bracket itself is manufactured out of a 3mm thick piece of steel which is bent and laser cut.
What you will be getting with the base listing:
ATX® Fold Back Rack – Wall Mounted (ATX-FBR-750), Straight Chin Up Bar, J-Hooks (ATX-FHT5-0700)
Please note the pictures may feature optional attachments or items which are not included with the unit, this is to show the possible configurations of the unit.
Cameron –
This is a cool piece of kit, and not for the folding feature, I bought it because it only sticks out 60cm or so from the wall, which is half the size of even the smallest power rack. So I can fit this and a Triplex machine in half a single garage which is pretty neat.
Only complaint is that it does rattle a bit, I guess because the bolts at the folding points need to have some wiggle room. Would be a better design if the securing pins were thicker so that, when inserted, it would reduce the rattling. I ended up buying some shims from Bunnings and just shoved them between the wall mount bracket and the rack, that takes away the folding ability but makes it virtually silent.
Another thing that would be cool is if the 700 series spotter arms would fit inside the rack, that would make it even more compact! But I’m guessing the spotter arms need to be that length to work with the ATX jammer arms and whatever else.
In any case, it’s great, I have the top half bolted into wall studs and the bottom half into the house slab and it all feels pretty sturdy. Assembling it wasn’t too bad either.
