If you’re just trying to get stronger, you shouldn’t worry too much about the bushing vs bearing debate. A high quality Bushing Bar will be better than a low quality bearing barbell anyways.
When trying to decide between a 1000lbs or 1500lbs Olympic Barbell don’t base your decision on the weight rating. Just go by your desired grip. If you want a fat, 32mm grip, go with the 1500lbs barbell.
I know a lot about these bars, mine is ancient and still going strong. Personally, I opted for the fatter grip because I suffered from tendinitis and I found this bar a bit more comfortable.
If I had my time again I would probably go for the 1,000lbs bar as I am right into deadlifts now and it would be a bit easier to grip. Having said that, my grip strength has improved dramatically by using this bar.
Whether you choose 1000lbs or 1500lbs, these bars are the best value for money. As I write this now I am suffering in pain after a brutal workout with this bar. It gets used every workout, with loads of deadlifts, and it is still going strong.
When I started using it we didn’t have the high-end ATX bars, so I have been tempted to change, but still want to see how many miles I can get on the old girl first!
